HOUSTON, Texas – July 6, 2015 – B&W Energy Services has recently commenced engineering on a $1.8 billion fertilizer plant in Wever, Iowa. B&W is contracted to Orascom E&C USA (OEC USA) to provide engineering and field execution services for multiple site-wide pre-commissioning cleaning scopes on the Iowa Fertilizer Plant Project.
The Iowa Fertilizer Plant will be the first world-scale fertilizer plant built in the United States in nearly 25 years. Once complete, the plant will produce between 1.5 and 2 million tons of nitrogen fertilizer per year. This will drastically reduce U.S. dependence on imported fertilizer.
B&W Energy Services is proud to have been selected by OEC USA to support this critical project. Starting out, B&W will provide chemical cleaning, high velocity lube oil flushing and site-wide continuous steam blow services to the project. The project is expected to last through the end of 2015.
