Mentoring Program Adds Value to B&W Employees and Clients

B&W’s commitment to providing our clients with top-quality services means we need the most experienced and knowledgeable team members in the industry. To ensure all of our employees adhere to the level of performance required, B&W has started a new mentoring program that will allow senior staff to equip the next generation by passing along their expertise.
Due to B&W’s significant growth, our team has been growing rapidly and we recognized the need to initiate a structured program for training new staff. Our Mentoring Program provides all of our employees, both current and future, the resources to reach the same level of professionalism and competency as our veteran employees. The Mentoring Program has already shown increased levels of employee performance on projects around the world.
I spoke to our COO, Joel Babin, about what he’s seen in terms of early returns on the Mentoring Program. “It’s created a lot of momentum for our organization and set up new hires to succeed and follow the example of those that have gone before them,” he said.
To begin building the program, we developed a list of technical competencies employees were expected to master. An organizational chart was created to pair senior employees with new hires and junior staff, and we reviewed which skills they need to learn. The program gives mentorees face-time with senior staff, giving them the opportunity to advance their skills and knowledge.
The Mentoring Program benefits both our clients and our employees by enhancing the professional development of our staff so that our customers’ projects see even better results.
