B&W Energy Services is proud to be a part of cutting-edge projects all across the world, one of which is the Shell Prelude FLNG, where B&W was chosen to carry out pre-engineering for the pre-commissioning cleaning services needed for the innovative project. Currently, B&W is continuing our work on the project and mobilizing personnel to execute steam blows on the project to ensure the massive 600,000 tonnes facility is ready to function at peak efficiency.
The Prelude FLNG (Floating Liquified Natural Gas) facility is the first of its kind, and will serve to identify new energy resources offshore that would have gone unreached prior to its construction. It’s offshore location, some 475 kilometers (around 300 miles) north-east of Broome, Western Australia, will place it in a strategic location to unlock previously unrealized potential for success.
A truly innovative project, The Prelude will revolutionize the way natural gas resources are discovered and developed. The project has been engineered to store natural gas produced in the field at -162°C, shrinking its volume by 600 times, allowing more to be collected and giving the company the freedom to ship to customers all over the world. With the Prelude’s production rates at 6 million tonnes per annum, this capability secures the success of the project.
The Prelude will be the largest floating offshore facility in the world, and a one of a kind engineering feat– sourcing expertise worldwide. B&W is proud to be among the companies that have made this cutting-edge project a reality and cannot wait to see what innovation grows out of the Shell Prelude FLNG.
