When Hurricane Ike hit the Gulf Coast in 2008, Galveston residents were facing an overwhelming task: rebuilding their homes and their community. For Ed Dill, the storm held another unexpected turning point.
At the time, Ed was serving on active duty with the U.S. Coast Guard and living next door to one of B&W’s owners. After Ed took it upon himself to ensure all family and friends on the island were accounted for, confirm that their property was safe, and help his neighbors rebuild their homes, the owner offered Ed a role with B&W. He saw something in Ed: the instinct and ability to keep others safe. For the past 17 years at B&W, that’s exactly what Ed has done.
As B&W’s director of health, safety, and environment and quality management, Ed provides health, safety and quality management training to all B&W team members and leads the pre-screening of new employees.
He also ensures that pre-kickoff meetings, monthly management meetings and other measures are being taken to uphold our ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management standards and keep our clients and employees safe.
“I do it because I care. I do it because I have the eye to look at things and say, ‘You know, that’s just not right. Let’s improve this.’ Health safety training never stops, and we like doing it right the first time. We strive to give the client exactly what they want on time and under budget.”
Outside of work, Ed enjoys spending time with his wife and two grown children, going to the beach and doing home improvement projects.
We’ve been lucky to have Ed on our team for close to two decades now. Thank you for your invaluable contributions to B&W, Ed!
