In 2007, Omar Mandujano sat down for an interview with one of our owners at a McDonald’s in Edmonton. They chatted over a couple of Big Macs, and the rest, as they say, is history. This July, Omar will celebrate 19 years here at B&W.
Over the years, Omar has worked diligently to grow alongside the company, taking on roles that span nearly every corner of operations. From starting as a technician and site manager to stepping in as a project manager on the Shell Pearl GTL project in Qatar, then advancing to operations manager and now serving as our director of operations, Omar has played a key role in B&W’s evolution.
As director of operations, Omar wears many hats. He coordinates the teams that bring our projects to life, oversees warehouse logistics and ensures all equipment is properly packed and maintained. He’s also our go-to guy for all things fabrication, purchasing and vendor relationships. From managing logistics behind the scenes to ensuring vendors are paid accurately and on time, Omar’s role is critical to keeping projects moving smoothly and efficiently.
Omar was initially drawn to B&W after his colleague spoke highly of the company and its owners. He liked the idea of working for a smaller company, where he could be known by name rather than just be another number. That sense of family at B&W still resonates with him today.
He values the strong bonds he’s formed with coworkers, many of whom have grown alongside the company, including our president, Chris Oakley. These relationships, combined with B&W’s commitment to customer service, are what he believes truly set B&W apart.
“Over the years, one of the questions we’ve always asked ourselves after a job is, ‘Was the customer happy?’ We don’t ask, ‘Did we make money?’ We’ve always been focused on the relationship. If we have a problem, we figure out how to fix it and make the customer happy.”
Outside of work, Omar loves grilling, hunting, and most of all, spending time with his wife and two daughters.
