HOUSTON, Texas—Feb. 29, 2016—B&W Energy Services received a new project award with LyondellBasell in Corpus Christi, Texas. This project, part of the company’s ethylene expansion, will contribute to B&W’s success in the pre-commissioning service industry.
B&W will perform steam blow, air blow, AquaLazing and chemical cleaning services for LyondellBasell’s plant in Corpus Christi. This project is a part of a multi-plant ethylene expansion that also includes plants in Channelview and La Porte.
“The Lyondell outage is a major scope of work for B&W and we are pleased to be given the opportunity to continue building our relationship with LyondellBasell through the Corpus Christi projects,” said Chris Oakley, Director of Sales and Engineering for B&W.
LyondellBasell plans to expand ethylene production by 800 million pounds per year at its Corpus Christi plant. The expansion project is expected to be completed in mid-2016.
When the projects are completed and fully operational, LyondellBasell expects the expansion project to increase North American ethylene capacity by roughly 1.85 billion pounds per year, for a total estimated capacity of 11.8 billion pounds per year.
